Building A New Brand for An Established Organization

In April of 2023 the ED of "I Have A Dream" Foundation - Idaho approached us with a challenge—lead the name change and rebrand of their organization into a stand-alone nonprofit...by the night of their August 16 gala. We accepted challenge and got to work.

We immediately scheduled deep dive discovery sessions with members of the board, advisory board, staff and volunteers to get to the DNA of the organization, the motivation for the change and the mission, vision, values integral to who they are: empowering kids of the Wood River Valley to have a voice and providing them with the tools and skills they need to succeed.

Layers of Meaning

After presenting more than a dozen naming options to the committee, the name Far + Wise was selected to put before the Board for a final vote. Meant as a play on the phrase far and wide, it is an aspirational call to action for kids to expand their horizons, reach beyond what is possible and explore their own path.

The tagline Seek. Learn. Soar. reinforces the aspirational vision that when given equitable access to resources, every young person can realize their innate potential and achieve their dreams. 

Establishing a Distinctive Identity

The world of education and nonprofits is crowded. To set the brand apart, we not only had to come up with a distinctive (and ownable) name, we also had to develop a brand that was both approachable and sophisticated. The brand, with the symbol of a wise owl, came together and from there, the color palette was selected to be fresh and energetic with the ability to represent kids of all ages from grades K—12.

We also set the strategy to introduce the new name and brand to supporters ahead of the gala - with the full rollout and reveal of the brand ready in time for the big night. We sent out electronic and snail mail announcement letters and advertised the refresh in local papers.

Setting the Course for the Future

We developed custom iconography and graphics to reinforce their philanthropic values and built out their website and collateral materials.

The result is a professional image that conveys a stand-alone nonprofit poised to make a bigger local impact and go further and deeper into empowering students through expanded programs and services, providing even more tools, opportunities, skills and personal development resources for the youth of Blaine County.  

The night of their annual gala was the formal reveal of their new name and identity and yielded the highest fundraising effort to date.
